Description

This Teriyaki Chicken recipe is easy enough for a great weeknight dinner and impressive enough for guests.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE TERIYAKI SAUCE:
  • ⅓ cups Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Ginger, Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ⅓ cups Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
  • FOR THE CHICKEN:
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 4 whole Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1 pinch Kosher Salt
  • 1 pinch Ground Black Pepper
  • Sliced Green Onions Or Sesame Seeds, For Garnish (optional)
  • Steamed Rice, To Serve (optional)

Preparation

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and vinegar over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.

Dissolve cornstarch in water in a separate mixing bowl and then add the mixture to the saucepan. Continue to cook the sauce for 6-8 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened. Then remove from heat and set aside.

For the chicken:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Heat olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over high heat. Season chicken liberally with kosher salt and ground black pepper.

Place chicken into skillet and cook until golden-brown on one side, about 5-6 minutes. Flip pieces over, pour the teriyaki sauce over and between the pieces of chicken and place skillet into the oven.

Bake chicken for 15-20 minutes, until no longer pink in the middle.

To serve, slice chicken against the grain and drizzle teriyaki sauce from the skillet over the chicken.

Serve over steamed rice if desired. Garnish with sliced green onions and/or sesame seeds, if desired.

Enjoy!

This was awesome. I will never buy teriyaki sauce again. My husband had to take my spoon from me so there would be some sauce for the chicken. Thanks for a easy and delicious recipe

Great recipe- very simple, quick and tasty. I used 1/4 tsp dry ginger in the sauce as it was what I had on hand. My husband especially loved this dish- thanks for sharing!

Love, love, love, this recipe! I’ve tried several teriyaki chicken recipes in search of the perfect flavor and thickness. This one is the perfect one! The taste and consistency were great. The only thing I will do differently is double the recipe for the sauce so I have plenty of it to cover my rice and any veggies I might add. My husband likes the sauce with grilled chicken. Either way (grilled chicken or chicken cooked per recipe), this is a tasty dish.

I had no ginger…but made this with all the other ingredients. Only change was I used tenders instead of full breast. Great recipe. Everyone around our table ate it, and we are staying in a guest house, and everyone in the guest house asked what I was cooking.
