Easy pasta dish that can be made ahead in large quantities and stored for later use.
Remove the Italian sausage from the casings, if applicable. In a saucepan, brown the chopped onion, ground beef and Italian sausage. Drain off the grease.
In a large saucepan, combine the spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, brown sugar, water, salt, butter and oregano.
Simmer on medium to low heat for 10 minutes. Add the onion and meat combination and simmer over low heat for an additional 10 minutes.
Cook the mostacolli noodles according to the instructions and add to the sauce.
Serve hot, or store up to three days in the refrigerator, or freeze for long-term storage.
