  • _____
  • FOR THE PIZZA ASSEMBLY:

  • 2 whole Links Good Quality Italian Sausage
  • 1 whole Pizza Crust
  • ½ cups Garlic White Sauce, Prepared (see Recipe Above)
  • 6 ounces, weight Fresh Mozzarella, Sliced

Preparation

For the Garlic White Sauce:

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add flour and stir completely to make a roux. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Whisk in milk slowly and cook until thickened to desired consistency. Add cheese and stir to melt. Season with salt and pepper, adding more to taste if necessary.

For the Roasted Fennel and Italian Sausage Pizza:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spread out sliced fennel evenly over sheet. Season with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Roast fennel in oven for 10-13 minutes, or until it starts to turn golden.

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add Italian sausage. Break apart into small pieces. Stirring frequently, cook sausage until well-browned and crumbled.

Once fennel is roasted, remove from oven and set aside. Turn heat in oven up to 500 degrees F.

Top prepared pizza crust with Garlic White Sauce, then roasted fennel, then crumbled Italian sausage, then mozzarella. Bake 5-10 minutes, or until edges are golden and cheese is bubbly.

Enjoy!

Cooked this tonight (with chicken instead of sausage) and it was wonderful! Great recipe!

Whoah Momma! This recipe is made for me. I love pizza but hate the red sauce – I love fennel. I don’t eat pork so will have to eliminate the sausage or use a veggie version – but this recipe is awesome!

This is now one of my husband’s favorite meals. My kids love it too. I followed the recipe pretty much exactly. It has a different flavor, a great combination. A very welcome and delicious change. We make it often now and I even cooked it in a dutch oven for a campout, the guests couldn’t stop raving. I absolutely love this recipe! Thank you for sharing.

i only made the garlic sauce portion of this recipe to go along with a spinach and portabella mushroom pizza, it was delicous and the perfect compliment…only thing i would recommend is doubling the salt. and super easy to whipp up!

Wonderful idea of roasting fennel! I based my pizza on your idea of white sauce, roasted my fennel although I used roast chicken and goat cheese rather than sausage and moz. It was fantastic – thanks for the inspiration!
