Description

Mom’s cooking is always best, and this is the best recipe for Spaghetti ahd Meatballs. The wonderful smell of this sauce baking in the oven will comfort your soul and welcome your guests. Making homemade meatballs is a little extra work but I am sure you will agree that it is definately worth the effort. The first part of the recipe is the meatballs and the second part is the sauce. Buon Appetito!!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE MEATBALLS:
  • 1 pound Each Ground Beef And Ground Pork
  • ¼ cups Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • ¼ cups Dry Bread Crumbs
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 whole Small Onion, Chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Parsley Flakes
  • 1-½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce

  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • 2 cans (28oz) Each Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 cans (5.5oz) Each Tomato Paste
  • 1 whole Large Onion, Chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 3 stalks Celery, Sliced
  • 2 cans (14oz) Each Sliced Mushrooms, Including Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Each Ground Nutmeg And Allspice
  • 1 teaspoon Each Ground Oregano And Basil
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Dried Parsley Flakes
  • ½ cups Grated Parmesan Cheese

Preparation

For the meatballs:
Put ground beef and pork, parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, eggs, garlic, onion, parsley, salt, pepper and worchestershire sauce in a large bowl. With hands mix well. Shape into meatballs. In a large frying pan, brown meatballs over medium heat until well browned on all sides then, set aside.

For sauce:
In a large roaster, add all the sauce ingredients and mix well. Carefully stir in the browned meatballs. Cover with lid and bake in 350 degrees F oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Serve meatballs and sauce over hot cooked spaghetti noodles.

Note: Our family’s tradition is to serve this recipe with Garlic bread and Creamy Cucumber Salad.

I hope you enjoy! When I was growing up, this was my most requested supper. Mom always made it for my Birthday because it was and still is my favorite supper!! The smell of this cooking in the oven is pure comfort to me. My Mom still makes it for me on my Birthday!! Although I make it for myself now, Mom’s somehow always tastes better.

This is a pretty good sauce. I did not put celery, mushrooms or parmesan cheese in and we didn’t miss them.

Delicious! I halved this and cooked in a 9×13 baking pan, and it turned out great.

Made this last night…My husband said (AGAIN) this was the best sauce and meatballs I had ever made. Thanks for adding another great recipe to my list! This recipe is super easy and tastes way better than any store bought variety! And you can really play around with the spices in the sauce and have great results! Thanks!
