This is a typical Cuban dish which the name translates to “Fried Cow.” It’s easy and delicious.
Take your flank steak and put it in a pressure cooker with 4 cups of water. If you don’t have a pressure cooker, you can use a crock pot, but it will take several hours. Turn the heat up to medium high. Once the meat is tender, take it out of the pot and place it on a cutting board to cool a bit.
Peel your onion and coarsely slice. Cut and squeeze the juice of 1 1/2 limes (or orange juice) into a bowl.
With a garlic press or microplane, grate the garlic cloves into the bowl with the lime juice.
Next, shred the meat with your hands and add salt. Add the mixture of lime juice and garlic to the meat.
Transfer the meat onto a skillet set on high heat. Add the onions. Once the onions are cooked through and some pieces of meat are crispy, remove from the skillet and serve.
