Hello everyone! I’d like to welcome you all by name, and you know, I probably could. I’ve read through just about every single recipe here at Tasty Kitchen, and I’m telling you, sometimes I wish I could summon memory lapses at will. There are so many wonderful recipes in here that I think I’m good with my meal plan for the next 8.27 years. (I actually calculated that.)
One of the first discoveries that excited me was Beer Bread (look Ma, no yeast!). There are more than a few recipes for Beer Bread here, and they’re all incredibly simple. Using a bottle of pomegranate-raspberry beer, I made mini-loaves of bread in less than 45 minutes. They disappeared in about the same amount of time. I made another batch the next day, this time with cream ale and some leftover shredded cheese. (It was BellaDonna and her Cheesy Beer Bread recipe that made me do it.) Oh my. Adding the melted butter on top really does the trick.
So the next time you’re making some soup or a hearty salad for dinner and forego the bread because you think there’s just no time to make it, think again! Excluding the time spent preheating the oven, a loaf of fresh beer bread can be on your table in about an hour, or less if you make mini-loaves or muffins. Try it!
Happy cooking,
Erika
P.S. If you want to peruse the various recipes for Beer Bread here, simply type in “beer bread” enclosed in double quotes in the search box. That gives you results with the exact phrase “beer bread” and will save you from having to wade through other recipes with either “beer” or “bread” in them. Like beer-battered fish. Or bread pudding. On second thought, sometimes wading is good. You just might stumble upon something tempting enough to make you forget what you searched for in the first place.

Thank you Erika! I’ve made beer bread but not with cheese…….yet….after staring at that photo of that decadent bread, I think my next batch will contain some! Nothing like a nice slice of warm bread out of the oven to go with a meal for sure.

LOL….My hubby is called the beer hunter by many of our friends…he has a fondness for Shiner Boch….as do I . I can see it now.
Me: Honey…did you make the Specs run ?
Him: DUH
Me : Did you get the extra Shiner ?
Him: Of Course…why..?
Me : Well some of it is for bread.
Him : Hands off of my beer woman !
And then of course , I steal his beer.
We live in a community property state after all .
Love the new blog.

Dear Ree,
My advice is to buy more beer. And embrace the bread.
Love,
Abby
P.S. Jenny, nice catch! That is funny!

I love that Abbie commented right after Ree’s Dear Abby question.
I will definitely keep this in mind for last minute breads. Thank you!

1. I made this bread last week.
2. Then I ate the whole loaf.
Dear Abby…what should I do?

I love the idea of a good bread without a ” yeast wait.” So fast and easy… let me go look again to see what’s in the garage fridge… maybe some regular beer…. but the Double Chocolate Stout is calling out to be used. Still thinking and getting the kitchen in order for the bread making… checked my pantry and have some really strange spices…. who knows what creation will come out?
I’ll try to photograph this time. It’s a gray day here in Houston.

Margo, this bread is wonderful even without any other additions. I’ve made it with just beer and no added spices or cheese. There’s nothing like freshly made bread to go with a meal!

Just read the recipe more carefully and …. I will make this without the cheese… skinny husband stays skinny by cutting some things out of his diet, like cheese… but I do think the chocolate ale and currants will make a nice contrast to the onions and garlic. I’ll let you know how it came out.

OMGoodness TK-Erika! You are making this diet thing very hard… but wouldn’t my sweet, skinny husband love this for supper tonight to go with the salad I have planned! Back to the kitchen… I have some chocolate ale left over from another recipe and I think I might add currants…. LOVE IT!
