Description

Sloppy Joes with a few more vegetables.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE SLOPPY JOES:
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1-½ pound Hamburger
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt And Pepper
  • 1 whole Carrot, Chopped
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • ½ whole Red Pepper, Chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 3 whole Mushrooms, Chopped
  • 2 cups Tomato Sauce
  • Sandwich Buns, To Serve
  • Your Favorite Toppings (Cheddar Cheese, Tabasco, Etc.)
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • ½ cups BBQ Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Dry Mustard

Preparation

Heat a deep skillet to medium heat and add the olive oil. Add the hamburger and brown, about 5 minutes. Break up the hamburger as it cooks. Season the browned hamburger with Worcestershire sauce with salt and pepper.

Add the vegetables to the hamburger pan and cook about 5 minutes.

In a bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients.

Mix in the tomato sauce over the vegetables and stir. Add the sauce into the skillet.

Cook the sloppy joes for about 10 minutes. You may want to cover the skillet to prevent splattering. Stir often.

Serve with bun of your choice and toppings like cheddar cheese, Tabasco, etc.
