Description

Quickly mix these up and roll them out, then let your kids take over. They can cut the shapes they want and transfer them to the pans.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, Softened
  • 1-¾ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 whole Large Egg
  • 1-½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ½ teaspoons Almond Extract
  • 2-¾ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Preparation

In a mixing bowl, cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and extracts. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl; then add to butter mixture 1 cup at a time, mixing after each addition.

Do not chill dough. Divide dough into 2 balls. On a floured surface, roll each ball into a circle approximately 12 inches wide and 1/8 inch thick. Cut out as many shapes as you can, and re-roll the scraps of leftover dough once if you want. Dip cookie cutter in flour between cuts if it gets sticky. Transfer to ungreased cookie sheets and bake 6-7 minutes at 400 F. Don’t let them brown or they will be hard and crunchy. Makes about 5 dozen medium-sized cookies.

My granddaughter said to give this recipe a 5 because it was so yummy. I enjoyed baking these with her, it was really hard to keep her fingers out of the bowl, we almost didn’t get any cookies!!!
