Description

A sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. Great with chicken or used as the sauce for a BBQ chicken pizza.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup White Or Yellow Onion, Chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Olive Oil
  • ¾ cups Ketchup
  • ¼ cups Tomato Sauce
  • ¼ cups Brown Sugar
  • ⅓ cups Molasses
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 4 Tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons Dry Chipotle Chile Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Apricot Jam

Preparation

Chop the onion and mince the garlic.

Heat a medium-sized skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Saute onion and garlic until onions are softened (about 3-5 minutes). Reduce heat to low. Add ketchup and tomato sauce and stir. Add brown sugar and stir until it dissolves. Add molasses, Worcestershire sauce and white vinegar. Add chipotle pepper to taste (I found 3 teaspoons to be fairly spicy. Increase or decrease depending on your preference).

Add honey and continue to stir. Add apricot jam, stir until it dissolves. Let the sauce simmer for about 5-10 minutes.

Turn off heat and let the sauce cool slightly before brushing on chicken or using as a pizza sauce.
