I first made this sauce on 03.12.2010, and this is now the only pizza sauce I make. I was very impressed with how easy it was, and the flavor was spot on! In order to make enough for two pizzas (I only had one 6 oz can of tomato paste, and I assumed that 6 oz equaled 6 tablespoons – I did not want to measure) I added a 15 oz can of diced tomatoes to the tomato paste, omitted the water, and doubled everything else! And I must admit, I did not have maple syrup so I just used sugar. The sauce was the best I have ever had on pizza, homemade or restaurant! And the family raved about it!

I made this according to your directions and it turned out great. It would also be easy to adjust for different spices, textures, etc… Thanks for posting it!

I made this sauce this past weekend, it was by far the best pizza sauce we’ve ever made at home. Thanks so much for a great recipe (one even my husband liked, he kept sneaking sauce out of the pan before I used it!) Thanks again!

Man alive this is a tasty pizza sauce! Thanks so much for sharing it. Unfortunately, the store bought sauces here are awful and the fact that I had all the ingredients at home already made it even better.

This sauce is delicious! Next time I may try fresh garlic. Until then, I made the sauce just as written and love it!

This pizza sauce is awesome! It is very quick and easy, and the best I have ever had at home! I had to make a couple changes based on what was in the pantry – I ran out of EVOO, so I used 1T of vegetable oil and 1T of butter, and I used sugar instead of maple syrup. I will definitely make again – with EVOO! I bet it will be even better.

I didn’t have the onion powder, and I added a few leaves of fresh basil. This was fantastic and my hubby commented that it was one of the best pizzas I’ld made in a while – thanks to this sauce!

This is a great sauce. It passed my thirteen year daughter’s muster, and believe me she is critical about pizza sauce. Thanks for the submission. I love your pictures.

Looks yummy. Is the sea salt a must, or can we sub for kosher? Congrats on being featured in today’s blog post!

I made this sauce last week, living in VT we have lots of Maple Syrup around especially this time of yr.
My kids did not like this recipe. I enjoyed it, it’s definately different. I liked the consistency of it.
I put the rest of the sauce into goulosh and it was delicious. I don’t think I’ll use it for pizza sauce again though.

Tried giving this a 5 mitt rating… couldn’t get the mitt to ‘take’. I have used this recipe 4 or 5 times and it is a winner. Quick easy and really good! It will stay in my staple list for ever.

Easy and delicious! I added a bit more salt. Will definitely make again since I always have all these ingredients on hand. Thank you!

I thought this sauce was great. I used honey and a little sugar instead of the maple syrup. Only because we were low on syrup and I was planning on making pancakes the next morning. I’ll probably tweak it next time for a little more heat and basil instead of oregano. I thought the oregano was too strong, but my hubby liked it! Thanks for the recipe!

I make my own pizza sauce all the time, and Im excited to try this recipe. Is the maple syrup used the same as what you use on pancakes (like Mrs Butterworths), or does it have to be “real” maple syrup?
