My family asks for this over the jarred kind every time. If you also make my “Mom’s Meatball Meal,” I recommend using this recipe for your sauce. You can easily substitute fresh herbs for dried if you have them on hand from your garden.
In a small skillet, saute onion and garlic in oil, until tender. Place onion and garlic as well as all remaining ingredients in a large sauce pot. Simmer for 2 to 3 hours over low heat. Remove bay leaves before serving.
