The word boondi has come from a Hindi word “boond,” which means drop. Boondis are small deep fried balls of gram flour paste. Raita is a yogurt-based Indian dish. It is a coolant and can be a combination of herbs, fruits or vegetables mixed in beaten yogurt. It is generally served as an accompaniment to spicy main dishes.
Soak boondi in warm water for 2 minutes.
Beat yogurt in a glass bowl. Add milk, salt, black salt, mint, and sugar.
Squeeze boondi lightly to remove water. Add to the yogurt and mix gently. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Garnish with red chili powder and roasted cumin powder when serving.
Boondi Raita goes well with any kind of North Indian food. You can serve it with sabji paratha, tehri, biryani, poori aloo or any other dish.
