Description

Extremely flavorful and healthy black bean burgers that use tahini as a binder instead of an egg!

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 Oz. Size) Low-Sodium Black Beans, Drained And Rinsed
  • 2 Tablespoons Tahini
  • ¼ teaspoons Paprika
  • ¼ teaspoons Chili Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Cumin
  • ⅛ teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Onion, Finely Diced
  • 1 Tablespoon Jalapeno, Finely Diced (Remove Seeds And Ribs For Less Heat)
  • ¼ cups Rolled Oats Or Panko Breadcrumbs, More Or Less As Needed
  • ½ Tablespoons Oil, If Cooking On Stove
  • 4 whole Hamburger Buns Or Sandwich Rolls
  • Other Burger Toppings, As Desired

Preparation

Mash about half of the beans with a potato masher, fork, or soup ladle (whatever you have!). Make sure not to mash them up too much, or the inside of the burger will be mushy. Add remaining unmashed beans and tahini and carefully mix together, being sure not to overmix.

Add in a pinch of each spice (the listed amounts are just suggestions) and the diced onions and jalapeno, and mix to combine with a fork. Feel free to customize it and add other textures to your burger like corn, seeds, etc.

Next, mix in breadcrumbs (or oats), 1 tablespoonful at a time, until it all comes together and reaches a moldable consistency.

Form into patties and heat up oil in your pan if you’re using the stove. Add patty to hot oil, and flip once browned, about 3-4 minutes. Cook until browned on the other side and heated through.

Serve on hamburger buns with all your favorite toppings and enjoy!
