You can make this stew using leftover grilled steak, if that ever happens to you.
Preheat oven to 325ºF.
In a skillet, heat oil. Brown (no need to cook through) beef cubes in hot oil. Sprinkle with seasonings and toss to coat. Transfer to a 9×13 baking dish or similar covered casserole dish.
In a large bowl, stir remaining ingredients. Pour over meat. Cover and bake for 2 1/2 hours until very tender. Makes a complete meal when you serve it with crusty bread, or over boiled potatoes.
Note: If you have leftover grilled steak, simply cube the steak and add the remaining ingredients. Bake low and slow until tender.
