Description

With the addition of sausage in a more traditional meatloaf, there is an amazing depth of flavor that can’t be achieved with ground beef alone. Perfect with corn muffins and green beans!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
  • 1 whole Small Yellow Onion, Chopped
  • ¼ cups Milk
  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs (not Panko)
  • ¾ cups Tomato Sauce, Unflavored, Divided
  • 4 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce, Divided
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 8 ounces, weight Ground Breakfast Sausage
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal (or Other) Steak Seasoning, Or To Taste
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder

Preparation

1. Saute onion in oil until tender. Transfer to large bowl.

2. Combine milk and bread crumbs in small bowl. Set aside.

3. Combine 1/4c tomato sauce and 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce in another small bowl. Set aside.

4. Add ground beef, sausage, remaining tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce, egg, seasoning mix, garlic powder and breadcrumb mixture into the onion bowl. Mix until just incorporated.

5. Mount mixture into a 9x5x3 loaf pan. Bake 45 minutes.

6. Remove from oven and pour off some fat.

7. Spread set aside tomato mixture on top.

8. Bake until internal temperature is 160 degrees (about 30 more minutes).

9. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.

** if you aren’t watching your sugar intake, you can substitute prepared ketchup for canned tomato sauce.

I tried this recipe the other night and got compliments from my husband, who is very picky about his meatloaf. He loved it and so did I. The sausage adds such a nice flavor, so it doesn’t end up tasting like a hamburger!
