Bacon, beef, and BBQ sandwich. Hmmm…sounds good to me! Oh shoot…I missed the bread! Oh well, Triple B sounds better anyway!
Combine the ground beef with the hot sauce, season salt, pepper, garlic and onion powders. Divide into four patties, and cook over medium high heat for about 5 minutes on one side. Flip and repeat for the other side. Even better, grill those babies! Whatever is more convenient! Just know that those cooking times are approximate – cook the burger to the doneness of your preference! Remove from heat, and allow to set for a few minutes.
Meanwhile, caramelize your onions by cooking them in about 4 Tablespoons of butter over medium heat. They need to be at least translucent, but the longer you cook ‘em, the sweeter they’ll be! I also think that Ree’s Onion Straws would be fantastic on this, but I’ll let you decide!
Next, butter your griddle very well with some of the remaining butter, and slap on the bread. Allow one side to brown a little and flip (add more butter here if you want – did I mention that this is a very naughty recipe? I didn’t? Wellll…now you know!) until the other side is browned.
Once you’re at this step, place your burger on the bun. I cut mine into a couple of strips to cover the bread better and allow the other ingredients to get down in the crevices. Pour on a couple of Tablespoons of your BBQ sauce, and then lay a few strips of your cooked bacon on top. Top with a slice of cheese and a spoonful of caramelized onions. Finally, lay a piece of grilled bread on top. Cover with a heatproof plate, and smoosh down with your trusty cast iron skillet. Let sizzle on your skillet for a minute or two, flip, and repeat. Cut in half and serve. Enjoy!
