Description

Tasty and colorful bean casserole.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices Bacon, Thinly Sliced
  • 1 whole Onion (medium)
  • ¼ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 can White Beans, 16 Oz, Rinsed And Drained
  • 1 can Black Beans, 16 Oz, (or Red Kidney), Rinsed And Drained
  • 1 can Bush's Original Baked Beans, 28 Oz, Do Not Drain

Preparation

Preheat oven at 350 degrees F.

Cook bacon until crisp. Drain fat, except 2 tablespoon reserved in pan with the cooked bacon. Add minced onions and saute for 5-7 minutes.

Combine cooked bacon, onion, brown sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire and three beans together in an oven proof casserole dish. Gently mix.

Bake for 45 minutes to one hour, uncovered.

I made these for a BBQ a couple of weeks ago, and they were a hit! I added a bunch of cayenne pepper and subbed kidney beans for the black beans. Next time I will add more bacon too. I like the easy recipe. Thanks for sharing!

I followed recipe exactly as written. (Kidney instead of black beans.) The recipe is very similar to other baked bean recipes, but it is very easy AND very flavorful. We also liked the fact the onion is partially cooked before baking. I baked it at 350 for about 3/4 of the time and then reduced oven temp to 325 for corn casserole and the beans were still excellent. So I’m thinking there can be some variation of the temp to allow for other dishes in the oven.
