Description

The only Sloppy Joes my kids will eat.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 1  Medium Onion
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1-½ cup Ketchup
  • 4 Tablespoons Mustard
  • 10  Hamburger Buns
  • Softened Butter, For Toasting The Buns

Preparation

1. Brown meat in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Salt and pepper to taste. When it’s browned, drain the fat. Dice the onion. Add the butter to the meat and cook the onion with the meat and butter until it is soft and caramelized.

2. In a bowl mix the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and mustard.

3. Add the sauce to the meat and onions and simmer for 20 minutes.

4. Butter the insides of both halves of the buns, and place them butter-side up on a cookie sheet. Broil them in the oven on low for a couple minutes until they are golden brown.

5. Assemble sandwiches by topping the buns with the Sloppy Joe mixture. Enjoy.

This recipe makes roughly 10 sandwiches. I sometimes omit the butter and onions since my kids aren’t big fans of onions.

Good job Kate! This was easy and delicious. Definitely my “go to” recipe for sloppy joes. Because I like to stretch my sloppy joes, I also added chopped green pepper and added a dash of hot sauce.

Great sloppy joes! Easy and very delicious. Definitely my “go to” recipe for sloppy joes in the future. I also added green peppers and a dash of hot sauce, because we tend to like a little spice. Yum!
