My Mom made these way back in the 1960s when I was growing up. Even though I’ve tried many sloppy joe recipes, this is the one I love most and always come back to. Sweet, tangy, and so satisfying!
In a large skillet, brown the beef. Drain any fat. Chop onions and pepper. Add remaining ingredients and simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours. Serve on buns.
Note: I often make this for company. One easy way is to brown the beef and drain any fat. Then place the beef into a crockpot, add the remaining ingredients, and cook on LOW for a couple of hours until hot.
Serve from the counter buffet-style.
