The meatballs cooked in a sweet and sour pineapple sauce—do Hawaiians even eat like this? I don’t know, but we do!
For the meatballs:
In a bowl, use your hands to mix together the meat, cracker crumbs, onions, milk and salt. Roll into balls.
Roll the meatballs in a bowl of flour, and brown the meatballs in an oiled skillet.
For the sauce:
Combine all the sauce ingredients and cook in a deep pan or large pot. (If there isn’t a cup of pineapple juice left from the can, add water to it until there is.) Bring to a boil, then add cooked meatballs, and remove from heat and put the lid on. It will simmer for 20 minutes.
Serve with rice.
