Description

Just like my mom used to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Cube Steak
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • Seasoning Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation

Sprinkle seasoning salt on the cube steak.

Heat up the oil in a skillet until hot. Brown the cube steak on each side on medium to medium-high heat. Transfer the meat to a glass oven-proof bowl.

Whisk together the flour and water until smooth. Season with salt and pepper and whisk together.

In the same skillet you used to brown the meat (with meat juices still in the skillet), whisk in the water/flour mixture. Whisk quickly until smooth and thicker, using medium heat, to make a gravy.

Pour gravy over the cube steak in the glass bowl. Cover. Bake in a 350-degree oven for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Pretty Good Recipe! I also like to put a few splashes of Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder when prepping the meat, and a cap full of gravy brown master when making the gravy, but I’m sure that different folks do it their own special way.

This is AWESOME as a sandwich too with the gravy, kinda like a sloppy Joe!

Tried this one weeknight and it was easy, but actually very tasteless. The meat was tender, but I was disappointed in the final product. I may try it again because of the tenderness and ease — but will definitely add some spices and/or soy sauce.
