My husband’s parents would serve this in the 70’s when people would come over for dinner and they had no money. It’s become a family favorite! It is served over mashed potatoes.
1. Cut the flank steak in very, very thin slices at an angle.
2. Marinate the meat in 1 cup of Italian salad dressing for at least 4 hours (it’s better overnight, though).
3. Put the meat in a large skillet or wide pot and cook on low heat until no longer pink. The meat will produce a lot of liquid.
4. Add the mushroom soup and turn the heat up a little so that it will lightly boil. Stir and be careful not to let it burn.
5. After it lightly boils, simmer for 20 minutes. Add more water if needed.
6. Serve over mashed potatoes!
