Masarap! I made this for supper tonight and it turned out great! It’s similar to how my mom and I make it, except we put the tomatoes in later. I really enjoyed it cooked in with the onions and will do that from now on. I found it a little on the greasy side, but that was easily fixed by draining the meat. The patis I used was a bit strong, so I added less than the recipe called for with great results. Sometimes, I add water or chicken stock to mine to make it more like a soup. I might try that next time with your recipe as a base. Thank you for sharing

my husband is filipino so I’ve tasted lots of flavorful food from that culture. this had so little flavor, however, that I’m questioning if I did something wrong? I accidentally added 2 garlic cloves, but also ended up having to add soy sauce, sesame oil, lots of salt and garlic powder to give it some boost! suggestion? thanks so much.

Thanks for the comment and review. I usually use the Thai brand Tiparos for fish sauce. I found that Filipino brands such as UFC and Rufina are a little bland when infusing flavor. Usually adding more fish sauce is what I would opt to do but I usually just add salt in the end to add flavor.
