Description

This is one loaf you won’t scoff at because it tastes like your favorite burger. Promise!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 4 slices Bacon, Cooked And Crumbled
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 whole Egg White
  • 3 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons Yellow Mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • ¼ cups Panko Crumbs
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Pepper
  • 8 ounces, weight Freshly Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 can (3 Oz. Size) French's Friend Onions

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350ºF.

In a large bowl, combine the beef, bacon, egg, egg white, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, mayonnaise, panko, salt and pepper.

Form into a loaf and place in a 9x5x3 loaf pan. Bake in the middle rack for 40 minutes. Remove and place cheddar cheese on top. Bake for an additional 5 minutes. Remove again and place French’s onions on top of the entire loaf. Bake an additional 10 minutes.

Allow to rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.

This is a wonderful alternative to regular meatloaf!! No one wanted to try this different version, but when they did, the loved it!! The only bad thing was there wasn’t any leftovers!! Very yummy!!!!

I’m not a huge meatloaf fan, but my husband is and he loved this! I had to make a couple changes. No panko, so I used regular bread crumbs. I also didn’t have any bacon, but I did saute some diced onion in a little bacon grease for the flavor. A little too like meatloaf for me, but I’ll be making again for my husband.

My anti meatloaf husband was dreading dinner last night when I told him this is what we were having. But he gave it a try and declared it “WONDERFUL!” That’s some mighty high praise right there. I added chopped zesty dill pickles with the french fried onions and it was like eating a slice of my favorite burger. Good stuff.
