Description

A sophisticated smoothie with the strawberry flavor turned up a notch!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE ROASTED STRAWBERRIES:
  • 10 ounces, weight Fresh Strawberries
  • 1 Tablespoon Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • FOR THE SMOOTHIE:
  • 1 cup Non-fat Milk Or Milk Of Choice
  • ⅓ cups Plain, Non-fat Greek Yogurt
  • ½  Peeled Frozen Banana
  • 1 Tablespoon Pure Maple Syrup
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Ice
  • 1 teaspoon Balsamic Vinegar

Preparation

For roasting the strawberries:

Preheat oven to 350 F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

Wash and hull the strawberries, then cut them in half and put them in a bowl. Add the maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, and salt to the strawberries and toss them together until the strawberries are completely coated.

Pour the strawberries out onto the lined baking sheet and bake them on the middle rack of the oven for 35-40 minutes. Remove from the oven and let the berries cool to room temperature. Refrigerate the strawberries until they are cold.

For the smoothies:

In a blender add the chilled roasted strawberries, milk, yogurt, banana, maple syrup, vanilla, ice, and balsamic vinegar. Blend everything until smooth. Serve immediately

Notes: Be sure to chill the roasted strawberries for at least 30 minutes before making the smoothie.
