Description

A friend of mine shared this recipe with me, and I am so glad she did! These cookies are perfect—soft and chewy, just the way I like them!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Softened Butter
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 2-¾ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Cream Of Tartar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • _____
  • FOR ROLLING COOKIES:
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Cream together butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

In a bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; slowly add to the wet mixture. Beat until creamy.

Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.

Mix the sugar and ground cinnamon together and rolls balls of dough into the mixture. Place two inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 6-8 minutes.

Enjoy! :)

Just made these and I was out of cream of tartar. I just used 2tspn of baking powder and no baking soda and they turned out yummy!

These are cooling on my counter as I write this. They are the perfect snickerdoodle – a slight crunch as you bite, but chewy. Thanks for sharing this. I baked them for 8 minutes, they were still a bit too underdone for me at 7 minutes.

Wow! These cookies were a hit in our house! I just made them last night and my husband smelt them baking and said, “It smells like Christmas”. My Husband and Son both enjoyed them very much. The recipe was very easy. The only time consuming part was rolling them because the dough balls would stick to your fingers so it took me a little longer to make them. Overall they are the best! I have the recipe stowed away with all my other recipes. Thanks for sharing this recipe and I hope that others will try making them too :o)

This is a great Snickerdoodle recipe. I have been looking for one that doesn’t require the use of Crisco. These cookies have great flavor and are soft…YUM!!!
