Description

Homemade Oreo Cookies. Chocolate sandwich cookies filled with a creamy homemade filling. These cookies are so addictive and deadly all at the same time. You can make a cream cheese filling or just plain vanilla.

Ingredients

  • COOKIE INGREDIENTS:
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil Or Buttered Flavor Shortening
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 box (18-20 Oz. Box) Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • _____
  • FILLING INGREDIENTS:
  • ½ cups Real Butter, Softened
  • 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar

Preparation

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Add oil and eggs to cake mix and blend together. Roll dough into balls (a little larger than a quarter). Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool on the sheet (until warm). Remove cookies from the sheet and place on a cooling rack.

To make the filling, cream butter. Add cream cheese and mix well. Add vanilla. Add confectioner’s sugar slowly until you reach your desired consistency.

To assemble the cookies, in a pastry bag with a 1/2-inch round tip (you can always use a Ziploc bag with a round tip or just use a butter knife), add about a tablespoon of filling into the center of one cookie. Place another cookie similar in size on top of the filling. Lightly press, to work the filling evenly to the outsides of the cookie. Continue this process until all the cookies have been sandwiched with cream.

Thank you for this recipe.
My 10 year daughter had a great time making these last night! They were so easy she could do everything herself, and she was so proud of them.
And they taste great too.

They are pretty close to whoppie pie, but these are more like a cookie crust. Whoppie pies have more of a cake like texture.

These sound alot like the whoopie pies I use to make. I can’t wait to try these.

We love these! They’re so quick and easy to make. We take them to potlucks and are frequently asked for the recipe. Thanks for posting the recipe.

These are a huge hit at my house!
I didn’t have devil’s food cake mix on hand, so substituted a ‘triple chocolate fudge’ cake mix instead.
I do think half of the filling recipe would have been enough, so now I have enough filling left to make another batch sometime real soon!
