Here is another one of my Great Grandma’s 100+ year old recipes. She immigrated from Poland in the early 1900s and married my Great Grandfather, who actually is the one who wrote most of these recipes on the cards. My Great Grandma passed away the year I was born, so I never knew her, however, I am feeling a little more connected as I make some of her 100+ year old recipes!
- Cream together shortening, peanut butter and brown sugar.
– Beat in eggs and vanilla. Then stir in vinegar.
– Mix in flour, salt and baking soda.
– Roll into 1 inch balls and place on baking sheets. Press down with fork to make a crossed pattern on top of each cookie.
– Bake at 375°F for 7-8 minutes, until edges turn brown.
– Makes 36 cookies.

I like old recipes. Found some of my grandma’s when we were cleaning a church kitchen!! When they added the yeast and water, they called it a ‘sponge’. Thank you for sharing,
Janet

this appears to be of the crispier variety, or is it a crispy-chewy? May have to try Great Grandma’s cookies.
