This is a real old-timey recipe, y’all. After supper, pop those suckers in the oven, turn it off, and let ‘em sit for a few hours!
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Beat egg whites lightly, then slowly add in sugar and vanilla. Beat with a hand mixer until you have stiff peaks. Gently fold in nuts and chocolate.
Line a cookie sheet with foil. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the pan. Place in oven, turn off the oven, and let cookies sit 2 hours or up to 8 hours. As Oleta says: Good!

Very interesting… just like baked meringue cookies, but with chocolate chips – can’t go wrong with chocolate!

This is the way I make my meringue cookies! Same name too! But occasionally tragedy strikes when someone doesn’t know they’re in there and they preheat the oven… oops!
