This is a recipe my mother used to whip up on busy afternoons. We still love it after all these years.
Combine sugar, cocoa, butter, and milk together in a sauce pan. Place on medium-high heat on the stove top. Bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 3 to 4 minutes (you do not want to deviate from that or it will burn). Remove from heat.
Add in your peanut butter, oats, and vanilla. Stir well.
Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed or parchment paper.
Let cool if you can wait!

We used to call these refrigerator cookies. They are not really mississippi mud related, but are yummy! I think they were on the quaker oats box!
