These are traditional Swedish sugar cookies that almost melt in your mouth. The original recipe calls for vanilla sugar (which can be found at IKEA) but extract works as well.
Mix room temperature butter and sugar until smooth. Add in vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder.
Slowly add flour mixture in with butter/sugar.
The dough will be very crumbly; you will not be able to roll the dough into balls in your hands. Instead, press the dough in your hands to little balls, not as big as ping pong balls, but larger than a marble.
Bake at 300 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Original recipe calls for vanilla sugar instead of extract. Vanilla sugar can be found at IKEA, and if you use the sugar version, you’ll need 1 tablespoon of it.
