Description

This is what happens when dark chocolate brownies and chocolate chip cookies have babies. Not to mention that some chopped Oreos and Mounds candy bars get thrown into the mix! Chocolate bliss, folks!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups Butter, Softened
  • ⅓ cups Shortening
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • ⅔ cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • ⅔ cups Dutch-process Cocoa
  • 16 whole Oreos, (put 'em In A Ziploc, And Crush 'em With A Kitchen Mallet/rolling Pin
  • 9 whole Fun Sized Mounds Candy Bars, Chopped
  • 1-½ cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening, and sugars. Mix in the eggs.

Mix in soda, vanilla, and salt.

In a medium bowl, whisk your flour and cocoa together. Add to creamed mixture.

Mix in Oreos, Mounds candy bars, and lastly, the chocolate chips.

Chill dough for 30 minutes, then roll into 2 inch balls. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake at 350F for 12 minutes.

***A few notes… For dark chocolate lovers (me!me!) the semisweet chocolate chips make for a super awesome dark chocolate cookie experience. However, milk chocolate might be a teensy bit more kid-friendly, if you want to take that route. Also, the original recipe says you should get about 3 dozen cookies, but I got more like 56! Without a doubt, I tend to keep my cookies on the small side, though, so make ‘em as big or small as you like! You may have to adjust baking time if you make them larger.

These sound really good.I wonder if you could make the same cookie and experiment with different kinds of candy bars?

These turned out really good. I was expecting more of a chunk cookie where you could identify the candy bars/ oreos with each bite. Maybe I shouldn’t have chopped them up so much, but they did blend in well and made a consistent cookie through and through. “Structurally” turned out great, not too heavy or hard and not runny around the edges. My co-workers finished off the single batch worth I brought in, but it took the entire day for them to be gone. As the author said, it did make a LOT from a one batch; I used a mini ice-cream scooper. Would definitely make again, but maybe try adding malt balls or another candy bar since the coconut kind of melted in.
