I’m not sure how to review these. The cookie part was delicious and the bacon part tasted like bacon… but I don’t think I like the combination. That’ s not the recipes fault, though!

I had such high hopes for this recipe… who doesn’t love chocolate and bacon?! After reading several other chocolate chip and bacon cookie recipes and finding reviewers complaining of a lack of bacon flavor, I decided to up the ante. I added 6 slices of bacon AND replaced some of the butter with bacon grease that was leftover in the pan from cooking the bacon (probably about 1-2 tablespoons). Sadly, even these additions couldn’t bring that delicious bacon flavor that I was after. While the cookie itself was superb (a new fave for me), I think I’ll leave the bacon out and make these strictly as chocolate chip cookies. I might try this recipe again by either leaving out the chocolate chips altogether and making a bacon cookie, reducing the amount of chips and/or using the mini chip size for a higher bacon to chocolate ratio (as I felt the chocolate was competing too much with the bacon flavor). I definitely would recommend this recipe to anyone who is looking for a great chocolate chip cookie recipe but not for someone who is looking for one with an outstanding bacon flavor.
