Description

With Father’s Day coming up and grills getting fired up, I thought I’d share my homemade BBQ sauce. It’s really the onions that make it soooo good, just be sure to chop them up finely. This sauce is really good on cheeseburgers, chicken, ribs or pork. I’ll sometimes make a double or triple batch and store it in mason jars in the fridge or give it as a gift.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Medium Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Margarine
  • 1 bottle (12 Oz. Bottle) Beer
  • 1 can (12 Oz. Can) Coke
  • ½ cups Ketchup
  • ½ cups Honey
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Garlic Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • ½ teaspoons Tabasco
  • ¼ teaspoons Pepper

Preparation

Saute onions with margarine in a pot. Once onions are soft and starting to brown, add in the remaining ingredients. Bring to boil, then turn down to simmer for about 30 minutes. Stir frequently to ensure the onions don’t stick to the bottom or burn. Reduce down to make about 2 cups of sauce.

Tip: You can use any type of beer and/or different pop (like root beer or Dr. Pepper).
