A vanilla sauce I make for waffles. Our family won’t eat waffles without it.
Whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and milk in a microwavable bowl (or in a saucepan on the stove top). Cook until boiling in 1-minute increments if using a microwave. Whisk the mixture very slowly into the beaten egg. Return the mixture into the saucepan (or microwavable bowl) and bring to a boil until thickened. Then remove from heat and add the butter and vanilla.
Serve with waffles (see my recipe box for my “I Finally Found the Perfect Waffle” recipe), crepes, or pancakes.
