After another boring night of Taco Tuesday, I started throwing stuff in the skillet to see what would happen. Here is the result!
In a large Dutch oven, brown the ground beef (or ground turkey) over a medium-high heat. Add the next 5 ingredients and stir to combine. Lower heat and bring to a simmer. Stir occasionally until heated through, approximately 20 minutes. If it appears soupy, allow to simmer longer to reduce liquid. It will thicken as it stands.
I served this with warmed tortilla shells along with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, salsa, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, chopped jalapenos, and sour cream.
It freezes well and can be used as a starter base for taco soup!
