Description

A no-fuss twist on a Hungarian classic beef stew.

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Green Peppers (seeded And Roughly Cut)
  • 2 whole Garlic Cloves, Peeled
  • 10 tablespoons, 1-⅝ teaspoons, ½ pinches Tomato Paste (1 Small Can)
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • ½ Tablespoons Salt
  • ⅓ cups Canola Oil
  • ½ cups Water
  • 3 pounds, 5 ounces, weight Beef Stew Cubes

Preparation

1. In a food processor, mince together all ingredients (except beef cubes) to a thick, fragrant paste.

2. Place beef cubes in the slow cooker then pour the vegetable paste over the beef. Mix well.

3. Close the lid on and cook on Low for 8-10 hours or if you are in a hurry, start on High for an hour then lower setting to Low for about 5 hours.

4. Yeah, that’s it. Yes, just like that. Done.

What would be appropriate to serve with this? My husband and I both grew up in exposed to various cultures, so I’d love to stay authentic, if possible, with this meal.

I didn’t love this recipe; it was super-easy and it smelled fantastic while it was cooking away all day, but once dinner rolled around, everyone in my family felt that it was a bit bland. I’ll try it again and adjust the spices a bit and perhaps brown the meat prior to placing in the crockpot.

This was *delicious*. It is very rich, almost too much so, and we enjoyed it much more the second night after the flavors had mellowed a little. But it is easy and yummy!
