Description

These homemade burgers were amazing! And frying your own fresh onion straws? Knocks supper right outta the park. We served ours with thick strawberry milkshakes.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE ONION STRAWS:
  • 1 whole White Onion, Thinly Sliced
  • ½ cups White Vinegar
  • 1 cup Flour, Mixed With Salt And Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Cream Of Tartar
  • 2 cups Oil, For Frying
  • FOR THE BURGER:
  • 2 pounds 80/20 Beef
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Pressed
  • ¾ Tablespoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Fresh Cracked Pepper
  • 6 slices Cheese, Swiss, Mild Cheddar, Monetery Jack, Or American
  • 6 whole Wheat Hamburger Buns

Preparation

Heat oil in a large pot until simmering. Thinly slice onion and soak in vinegar. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cream of tartar, and seasonings. Using a fork, pull onion rings from vinegar, and dredge through flour mixture until evenly coated.

Once oil is ready, began frying process until they are golden brown. Repeat. Drain on paper towels until ready to serve.

Gently knead beef, garlic, salt and pepper. Press into patties approximately 3/4-inch thickness. Preheat grill, and place the patties evenly on your grilling surface. Cook burgers approximately 5 minutes per side for medium-cooked burgers. Flip the burgers only once to prevent overcooking!

Shut down heat and melt slices of cheese on top of each patty. Remove from grill.

Assemble burgers in buns. Dress each burger with onion straws and condiments of your choice!
