Description

This scrumptious meal was delivered to my family when my second son was born. We have loved it ever since!

Delicious simmered, sirloin tips in an awesome gravy derived from consomme and cranberry juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Sirloin Beef Tips Or Sirloin Steak Cut Into 1-inch Pieces
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 can (10.5 Oz.) Beef Consomme
  • ⅓ cups Cranberry Juice/or Red Wine
  • 2 Tablespoons Light Soy Sauce
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • ¼ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • ¼ cups Water
  • 4 cups Cooked Rice

Preparation

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown meat in oil, stirring to brown the meat on all sides. Stir in consomme, juice, soy sauce, garlic, and onion powder. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender.

Blend cornstarch and water together in a small bowl. Then gradually it into meat mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir for a couple of minutes.

Serve over rice. Makes 4 to 6 servings.

This was yummy and turned out very well. We served it with mashed potatoes instead of rice but I would like to try it over egg noodles though.

A tasty meal! I substituted the cranberry juice with water and a small handful of Craisins! The beef was nicely tender, with a good flavor. The recipe itself has plenty of wiggle room – meaning, you could add more liquid/water, use a different broth in exchange for the consumme’, etc., and the flavors are still there. Very good!
