  • ½ cups Large Flake Oats
  • ⅓ cups Cracked Wheat Or Bread Crumbs
  • ½ cans (15 Oz. Size) Chickpeas, Drained.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • ⅓ cups Spanish Onion, Chopped
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Curry Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Liquid Honey
  • ½ cans (15 Oz. Size) Lentils, Drained
  • Oil, For Cooking The Patties
  • FOR ASSEMBLING THE BURGERS:
  • 6 whole Greek-style Pita Breads
  • 2 Tablespoons Tahini (sesame Paste)
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
  • 4 Tablespoons Plain Yogurt
  • ½ cups English Cucumber, Sliced
  • ½ cups Italian Parsley, Chopped
  • 1 bunch Arugula
  • 1 whole Red Bell Pepper, Quartered

Preparation

1. Pulse oats and cracked wheat (or bread crumbs) in a food processor until ground. Add chickpeas, garlic, onions, egg, spices, salt and honey. Mix until smooth. Transfer paste into a medium-sized bowl and add lentils. Shape into six 4-inch-wide patties.

2. Heat a cast-iron skillet or frying pan over medium and add a small amount of oil. Cook patties, 2 at a time, until golden and warmed through, 4-5 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining patties.

3. Warm pita bread in the oven. Prepare tahini sauce by mixing the tahini, lemon juice, and yogurt; blend well.

4. Place falafel on pita bread. Top with tahini sauce and your favourite garnishes, such as cucumber, parsley, arugula, and bell pepper.
