Delicious stuffed burgers with “all-American” fixins.
In a large bowl, mix together the beef, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and onion powder.
On wax paper, divide the beef into four equal parts, and pat it out into large, thin circles. On 1/2 of each circle, spread 1 Tablespoon of mustard, 1 Tablespoon of relish, sprinkle with 1/4 of the diced onion, and top with 1 slice of cheese (break the slice to fit if needed). Fold the other half of the beef patty over the side with the toppings, then use your hands to shape the beef into a round patty again. Patties will be thick.
Grill on preheated outdoor grill over medium heat until burgers are cooked through (my hubby said it took about 12 minutes…).
Serve on buns with ketchup and mayo, if desired. Makes 4 large burgers. We used cheddar cheese and it was delicious, but would be good with just about any variety!
