This was my Mom’s only “pot roast.” It makes your house smell wonderful. There are no extra steps or pots in this recipe. The fact that it makes its own gravy is a huge plus.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Place roast in a dutch oven (no need to brown beforehand). Sprinkle roast with onion soup, brown sugar and mustard. Pour soy sauce on, and then the flour/water mixture.
Cover and bake for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
This makes its own brown gravy to serve with mashed potatoes.
(I use a chuck roast.)
