Dried beef in a creamy sauce served over toast, but more commonly known as “S*** on a Shingle” especially in military families. A yummy, salty, warm-your-tummy and fill-you-up sort of meal.
Melt butter in the bottom of a deep pot over medium heat. Add flour and pepper to make a paste, stir for a minute or two to cook the flour. Using a whisk, slowly stir in the milk. Add the beef pieces and the water. Cook and stir for 5 minutes until mixture has thickened.
Serve over toast cut in half or quarters (commonly known as toast points).

Totally forgot about this!!! One of the few recipes I liked when my mom cooked it. The salty beef and cream sauce was a winning combo. I always scooted the peas to the side.
