I make this about once a week. My family loves them! Use more or less jalapenos depending on your tastes.
The original recipe called for flank steak but I’ve used sirloin steak with great results.
Place sliced steak into a large bowl and sprinkle evenly with the chili powder, cumin, coriander, and salt. Add the garlic and jalapenos and toss to mix it all together.
Heat two teaspoons oil in a large skillet over high heat until hot. Add half of the steak and cook, turning once, until browned. It’s about one minute per side. Transfer to a bowl and repeat with remaining steak and oil. Then chop/cut steak into bite-sized pieces.
Off heat, add the tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, and lime juice to the skillet. Be sure to scrape up all of the brown bits.
Place skillet back onto heat and cook tomato mixture on medium heat until reduced, 8 minutes or so. Return steak to the skillet and cook until meat is no longer pink. Divide among tortillas.
Serve with cheese, lettuce and sour cream.

I just wanted to say that this has got to be my family’s all time favorite meal! I have varied it – using chicken. We top it with Spicy Ranch dressing and cheese. Sometimes even using multigrain tostidos! My son is always asking for SCT, also known as Spicy Chicken Tacos! Thanks for sharing!!

This was fantastic!! We like it super spicy, so I added an extra jalepeno.. delicious, and so were the leftovers!

Nachos! Now why didn’t I think of that? I’m always looking for creative ways to use up leftovers. The reheat and eat approach never caught me.

These were so good! My husband and I both agreed that the meat would also be really good on nachos. I might do that with the left overs this weekend! Thanks for the recipe!
