Description

We had this for our Thanksgiving Feast and it stole the show. Sorry Mr. Tom (the Turkey)! We had to print out many copies of this recipe. It is nice, because you can make ahead and then warm in crockpot if needed for space. Can be served alone or as sandwiches. Brisket is fairly inexpensive as well.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BRISKET:
  • 1 can (10 Oz. Size) Beef Consomme
  • 5 ounces, fluid Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 6 pounds Beef Brisket
  • 1 dash Paprika
  • _____
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • ½ cups Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Liquid Smoke
  • ½ cups White Vinegar
  • ¾ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Marinade (reserved From Above)

Preparation

Note: Cooking time may vary: Use meat thermometer – it is done when it reaches 160 degrees F.

Mix first 4 ingredients together. Place brisket in a covered pan or plastic bag. Pour marinade over it. Marinate in refrigerator 8 hours or overnight. Drain and save 1 cup of marinade. Sprinkle paprika on brisket. Wrap tight in aluminum foil and roast for 4 hours at 325 degrees (F). (Cook till 160 degrees F).

Mix together last 5 ingredients for the sauce and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Thinly slice brisket, place in pan and put sauce over it. Bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees (F).

This is an excellent recipe. I had trouble with my meat thermometer because of the aluminum foil so I would recommend just checking the meat after a few hours to see if it has reached temperature. My meat cooked much faster than the recipe. The finished brisket had a rich flavor that reminded us of good sweet beef jerky. It was amazing. I can’t wait to make it again.
