Incredible. I use this to make chili dogs. I blend the rotels until it’s smooth and I don’t add any of the beans. It’s amazing.

This was my first experience with Frito Chili Pie, and it will definitely not be my last!
I used ground turkey instead of ground beef, added a minced sweet onion to the meat while browning, all pinto beans, and a splash of red enchilada sauce. I made it the night before we had it for dinner, to let the flavors marry.
When I finished prepping it I thought, “This doesn’t look quite wet enough.” at the time, and then came back to re-read the recipe this evening. I noticed the comment above from “MomToOne” about showing water being added with the tomato sauce in the blog post but not in this recipe.
So tonight as I warmed it up on the stove, I added about 1/2-3/4 cup of water over about 20 minutes as I simmered it. It came out to a consistency I considered to be perfect.
Served with shredded Mexican blend cheese and sour cream. (Plus hot sauce for me!) Delish!

Excellent and easy! I added a chopped onion while I browned the ground beef. This can be doubled for a crowd or made ahead and warmed up. I normally oppose beans in my chili but this has a great flavor & is perfect for Frito Pie. Will be making it again soon.

Fantastic recipe!! I added a little cayenne pepper to kick up the heat & “hot” rotel instead of original. I also had to make “tomato sauce” from tomato paste because I didn’t have any on hand . . . then to also ensure there was enough liquid I added one additional can of rotel. Turned out fantastic & this will be my new go to chili recipe!

This is a great recipe. I used lean ground beef b/c its what I had, but it was still delicious! Even my 3 picky toddlers loved it!

On your blog you add warm water with the tomato sauce and rotel and spices, but it isn’t on this recipe or the printable one on your cooking blog. Does it need the water? By the way, I’m making this for dinner right now because I have been craving it since your blogged about it! I can’t wait to eat it!

We call these ” pepper bellies”… Not sure why but have been having them since my 40ish year old girls played softball at the little league park when they were little. I love mine tpeed with grated sharp cheddar cheese and chopped onions. Darn, now I’m hungry for them.

These are so good! Add a few sliced jalapenos and a dollop of sour cream for good measure.
