This was my first experience with tres leches cake and I’m now a convert. The flavor is out of the world and the cake just melts in your mouth! For anyone scared that it would be too soggy, don’t be! Ree is right. You have to make it to believe it. It’s awesome!

Very easy to make, and so amazingly good. I beat up my egg whites first, and then moved on to the yolks and sugar, so that I wouldn’t have to wash the beaters in between. The extra 1 cup of milk at the end will be a nice addition to my coffee cup tomorrow. Excellent recipe. My kids inhaled it.

This recipe is incredible and worth the extra time. Everyone that’s tried it raves!

I am a huge fan of Tres Leches Cake, so of course I had to try PW version. it did not disappoint! The cake is supposed to be very moist and cold. This was a huge hit at a recent fiesta-themed get-together. I should have made more than one.
FYI- I skip the cherries. Not needed.

Made this a couple of weeks ago and it was beyond delicious! Keeps really well in the fridge as well, got better and more moist in fact!

Man do I love this cake! I think it was best fresh–after refrigeration it didn’t seem as appealing for some reason. But it is incredible. I also skip the cherries.

This cake came out incredible! Tender, flavorful, delicious and moist! Just be careful with the milk mixture because I poured all of it over and made it a little to mushy (totally my mistake). The cake itself is so moist that it really only needs a portion of the milk mix!

This cake was without a doubt delicious. However, it was not as sweet as sweet as the traditional cake itself. I will try this recipe again but adjust the amount of sugar in the cake mix.

This cake was wonderful. Next time I think I’ll use a metal pan and not glass casserole. I used sliced strawberries instead of cherries. This was just like I had in Mexico. Yum.

Great recipe. The next time I will make it a day in advance. The cake was much better after letting it set in the frige for several hours.

Um, this was the BEST cake I have EVER tasted. Oh, it was glorious…so moist and yummy and ohhhh….it probably doesn’t hurt that I was raised on evaporated milk (honestly, the ‘recipe’ in my baby book for the ‘formula’ my mother fed me included evaporated milk and corn syrup!). So, lots of warm fuzzy feelings for me. I only wish I had a beautiful platter the right size for this cake. But that just means I get to shop for one.

I tried this cake from a DIFFERENT recipe about a year ago. It didn’t turn out.
The cake didn’t soak up the milk and it just sat there in a pile of goo.
I threw it out.
I will try it again, ONLY because it’s a PW recipe, and I have faith it will work out.

Is it possible that how much of the milk the cake will absorb is related to the amount of humidity in your area? The cake turned out delicious, but easily could have held that last cup of milk. .. dare I say, it dried out a bit after a day or so.. I’m definitely going to try this again but lay it on thick this time.

I made this for my husband’s birthday cake. It was wonderful. My 6 yo boys scarfed it down so quick you would think they had never eaten cake before!

This was a big hit at a recent get together to celebrate my best friend’s wedding anniversary. The recipe was easy to follow and it turned out exactly as Ree described.
I will definitely make this again.

Does anyone think that this would work with chocolate mixed into the milks? Tres Leche Chocolate?

This is my favorite dessert when we go to Mexico. I am so going to try this!

Amazing cake, it’s my mother’s favorite and it’s difficult to prepare a good one from scratch.
I tried your recipe and the three milks is perfect in flavor and thickness to make it moist.
Thank you Ree, regards from Mexico,
Paty

this cake was phenominal! my boyfriends favorite cake is Tres Leches so instead of paying 32 bucks for one I decided to make it myself. The Pioneer Woman posted this at the right time!! He said this was the best he ever tasted and no one could believe I made it on my own! They all thought I bought it and put it in my own dish! haha. Its a bit more work than your average cake, but SO WORTH it! If you want leftovers, you should double the recipe! It really was one of the BEST cakes I ever tasted too!
