A Christmatime favorite.
Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk.
Sift dry ingredients together in a separate bowl. Slowly blend into the creamed mixture.
Divide dough in half. Chill dough until ready to use.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 375°F for about 6-8 minutes. Cool slightly. Remove from pan. For frosting, use my Buttercream Icing recipe (also in my recipe box).
