  • 1 box (about 18-20 Oz. Box) Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 cup Cherry Coke
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil

Chop the jar of cherries, set aside. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, Cherry Coke, oil, eggs and reserved 1/4 cup cherry juice. Stir in chopped cherries. Looking into it, I concluded it could have been due to the cake mix. If your going to make this recipe DO NOT buy cake mix that comes with any type of mixed in pudding or that says ‘Moist’ on the box. Your already adding in A LOT of moisture into the cake with the cherry juice and soda.

Or be hardcore and make your own devils food batter.

I tried making this cake last night for a party today.

Complete disaster.

It came out way too moist and the frosting is so heavy it cracked the cake in half and became one big gloppy mess. This isn’t to say it didn’t come out good. I just think there are flaws in the recipe..either that or I did something wrong [though I don’t see how as I followed the directions to the letter]

Delicious cake but comes out WAY TOO MOIST. The frosting is also very heavy and cracked my cake before I had a chance to evenly spread it out.

Very disappointed as this was supposed to be for a party.

I made this cake for Thanksgiving and my family loved it! It was awesome! The only thing I did different was I added a little cherry juice to the frosting.

TASTY…MOIST…The icing was my favorite. This recipe was a hit for father’s day weekend. Will definitely make again.

I did think that the cake would taste a little bit more cherry, but it didn’t. However, I enjoyed the outcome tremendously.
