Description

Lightly crispy and buttery soft on the inside.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups White Sugar, Divided
  • ½ cups Butter Or Shortening
  • ¼ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¼ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1 cup Flour (I Used A Whole Wheat White Blend)
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Cream Of Tartar

Preparation

Cream sugars and shortening, using only 1/2 cup white sugar. Mix in the egg and vanilla, then add the dry ingredients.

Use a cookie scoop to form nice round balls and roll each dough ball in the remaining 1/4 cup white sugar. Don’t flatten.

Bake at 350ºF for 12 minutes.

Notes: Personally, my favorite time to eat them was either before they were baked, or immediately after they were baked. After a few hours, they will become more crispy, like a traditional sugar cookie.

I am making these right now. It is really hot at my house, so I had to put the dough in the fridge… it got too soft. The dough tastes great!

They taste great, but they spread out sooo much. I’ll try them again sometime and adjust my rating then.

These are amazing!! i’m a junior in college studying for my finals and decided to take a minor break and browse the site and stumbled upon these lovely cookies and just had to make them. SO fast and SO delicious, thank you for this recipe. I’ll definitely be keeping it handy on those long study nights.
